From Survival Mode to Self-Leadership

Paramedic. Speaker. Advocate. Builder of conversations, systems, and spaces helping first responders reconnect with humanity.

More Than The Uniform

MaKenzie Tiegs is a Paramedic with over a decade of experience operating in high-pressure, high-stakes environments. Her career spans frontline emergency response and wildland fire. As the daughter of two first responders, she was raised in the culture of service, sacrifice, and resilience long before stepping into the profession herself.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, bringing both lived experience and formal education into her work. Her career has required real-time decision-making, resilience, and leadership when it matters most.

She is a recipient of the U.S. Department of the Interior Medal of Valor, recognized for actions taken in the line of duty—an honor that reflects not just courage in a moment, but a sustained commitment to service.

For years, MaKenzie was the one responding—the one people called when things went wrong. Until she became the one who needed help.

In 2024, she was diagnosed with cPTSD. What followed wasn’t just recovery—it was an identity shift. From being the one who carried others, to learning how to be supported. From operating in survival, to rebuilding a life rooted in clarity, alignment, and purpose. That shift changed everything—not just personally, but in how she saw leadership, resilience, and the systems meant to support those on the frontlines.

Alongside her work in the field, MaKenzie is the host of the Raw Thoughts Podcast, a platform dedicated to sharing real, unfiltered stories of struggle, resilience, and growth. The podcast is recognized in the top 10% mental health podcast globally. Through conversations with first responders, leaders, and individuals from all walks of life, she has created a space where people feel seen, heard, and understood—while bringing awareness to the human side of high-performance environments.

Through this work, a pattern became clear:

people don’t just need resources—they need connection, direction, and a way forward.

This became the foundation of her work.

MaKenzie developed the S.C.A.M. Method—

Support. Community. Aspirations. Movement.

A framework designed to help individuals and teams rebuild trust, reconnect to purpose, and create forward momentum—personally and professionally. It reflects what she learned firsthand: that resilience is not built in isolation, and growth requires both structure and support.

That work evolved into the creation of Valor Evolution Consulting.

Through training, consulting, and implementation, she partners with agencies and high-pressure organizations to strengthen performance, develop leadership, and build cultures where people are equipped—not just to respond—but to sustain, lead, and grow.

Her faith became the foundation for rebuilding—not just personally, but in how she approaches leadership, service, and the responsibility of caring for those who serve others.

Today, her mission is clear: to help individuals and organizations move from survival to self-leadership—building systems that allow people to perform, lead, and live well under pressure.
